Thank you for all you have done to help us see the world through someone else's eyes. You have literally brought us the world.

I am sorry to see this show go. It is one of the few that feels relatable no matter the age or station of the listener.

I hope you go on to do beautiful things elsewhere.

And I remember this episode well--I even listened twice (when it came out), because it was so touching and amazing.

I think especially for me as an expat, Rough Translation was one of the few podcasts where *every episode* moved me greatly. Thank you for all your work, Gregory

As a professor of foreign language and studies at an elite college that proclaims the values of globalism but doesn’t walk the walk, I’ve so delighted in the Rough Translation podcasts. Have shared many of them with students, colleagues, family, friends. You GET the beauty, fun, and importance of learning about the varieties of experience and meaning throughout the world and the enlightenment that it brings. Bravo! Thanks! and keep on trucking. I will be following.

As a US/FR person, I was sooo impressed by this episode. It is so rare that American media actually understands the subtleties of a foreign culture and this episode was spot on. I have known many "Marie france" in my life and you depicted it brilliantly. Why is NPR not funding you anymore? What a shame!

I am devastated that rough translation has been canceled! It’s my favorite podcast, I’m not kidding! I look forward to hearing what you’re going to do in the next 85 days --or less than that by now --and hope that I can continue to follow your work here on Substack. Your biggest fan in Heidelberg, Germany!

There are so many Rough Translation episodes that I remember vividly and have shared with others, including this one. I hope you can find another home or sponsor as RT tells the best stories. Let us know how we can help.

Rough translation is such a valuable creation. I am with janet above in noting this is a rare podcast where every episode I’ve listened to was really moving, and I’ve listened to many more than once. Thank you so much for creating that. I’m looking forward to reading/hearing what comes next.

My favorite show! The one where the idea that a different perspective can exit on the most fundamental of American concepts: race, success, freedom is not only obvious but an opportunity to think and engage more deeply.
